Communication is the basic objective of English study.  Our program incorporates literature, language, and composition, all of which develop the student's ability to effectively communicate his/her thoughts and experiences.

Eighth grade students will continue to learn basic language arts skills in a holistic approach:  reading, writing, speaking and listening.  Students will work creatively and cooperatively on writing projects, novels, short stories, poetry, and various other language activities.  Writing projects focus on writing as a process.  Several genres will be represented through literature, and many will center around multi-cultural issues.  The eighth grade English course will attempt to prepare the student to be a successful, independent student at the high school.
