Course Length: 2 Semesters
Social Studies in the eighth grade will consist of the study of Canada, Latin America, the Middle East, Eastern Europe, Russia, Australia, Oceania, and Antarctica. The study of these areas will be based on the five themes of geography. In addition, other tropics such as map skills and current events may be studied.
Central to this curriculum are two additional important objectives:
First, the development of the social studies concepts necessary to understand and evaluate both ones' own and all other cultures;
Second, the development of the learning skills necessary for each student's further education at the high school level.
