SPHS students learn how to save a life
After months of hard work, training and testing, 20 Sun Prairie High School students had the honor of being the first class to be American Red Cross lifeguard certified through the school’s new Lifeguard Training for PE course.

Students are required to take 1.5 credits of Physical Education as a requirement for graduation and Wisconsin state law.
The Lifeguard Training class is one of many options students at Sun Prairie High School may select to fulfill the graduation requirement.

All students with a basic understanding of swimming may select lifeguard class. Students who wish to become an American Red Cross certified lifeguard must complete all certification standards:
- 15 Years old upon course completion
- 300 Yard Swim
- 10 Pound Brick Retrieval
- 80%+ on all 3 standardized ARC written test
- Successful completion of all practical scenarios
