ROSCO meetings are held on the 2nd Tuesday of the month . They are at 6:30PM in the Art Room at Royal Oaks and generally last about 60 minutes. Free childcare is provided for children 3 and older, so feel free to bring the kids. These meetings are a perfect opportunity for parents and guardians to start (or continue) being involved with their children's school. Many things are discussed at these meetings and your participation is invaluable in making a difference at Royal Oaks School.
Some of the items discussed and voted on at meetings include:
-
How money is allocated
-
Money for teachers classrooms
-
Money for special school programs
-
Money for the school library / media center
-
Money for playground improvements
-
School signage
-
Classroom improvements (smart boards, etc.)
-
School needs and volunteer opportunities
-
Winter clothing drives for school children
-
Assistance with Scholastic book sales
-
Help with picture day
-
Many other needs as they come up
-
A school board liaison (current school board member) updates issues facing the school board that are pertinent to the school community and your children. It is a perfect time to ask questions and interact directly with one of our school board members.
-
Updates from committee chair people on what is happening with the numerous committees set-up through ROSCO.
-
A report from school. The principal and a teacher representative each let us know what's happening at school and any issues that the school could use help with from ROSCO. A perfect opportunity for interaction directly with school teachers and staff.
-
Time for open discussion on ideas of what else ROSCO can be doing to make Royal Oaks the best experience for everyone involved.
A list of meeting dates as well as agendas and minutes from meetings are found on the right column of this page.
